Karabin M14 był indywidualną bronią samoczynno-powtarzalną.
Zasada działania oparta jest o wykorzystanie energii gazów prochowych
odprowadzanych przez boczny otwór lufy. Ryglowanie następuje przez obrót zamka. Mechanizm spustowy umożliwiał strzelanie ogniem pojedynczym i seriami.
Przełącznik rodzaju ognia znajduje się po prawej stronie komory zamkowej (większość egzemplarzy została pozbawiona możliwości strzelania seriami). Oddzielny bezpiecznik znajduje się przed spustem. Zasilanie z dwurzędowych magazynków pudełkowych o pojemności 20 naboi. Mechaniczne przyrządy celownicze składają się z muszki w osłonie i celownika przeziernikowego.
Replika W14 GBB
Replika karabinu W14 wykonana jest z elementów metalowych oraz tworzywa. Elementy wykonane z tworzywa to łoże i pokrywa zamka. Pozostałe części są metalowe. Napęd repliki stanowi greengas, który aplikuje się do magazynka repliki. W14 posiada system Blow Back. Oznacza to, że przy każdym wystrzale zamek zachowuje się podobnie jak w wersji ostrej.

Hop-Up
Hop-Uup system is used for overclocking bb during the shot (putting
it in rotation), through which, it extends its flight
path. Acting laws of physics make that bb lift up,
while the gravitational force take it down. Appropriate
adjustment of Hop-Up, will compensate for these two factors, which
result in long and straight flight for longer distance and be greater focus shot (to improve accuracy).
